Our 5th Annual Food Summit will be held November 12-13, 2010. The Food Summit is a gathering of those interested in or involved with our local food system. There are opportunities to learn, share and celebrate our rich food culture.
Friday, November 12, will be a day filled with learning, discussion and networking with national and local experts during breakout sessions. On Saturday, November 13, you will have the opportunity to get out in the community to celebrate and have some hands-on learning. We will have a community garden tour (bike AND bus), a farm tour, canning class, cooking demo., film screening AND a finale food event! Details to come.
Registration is $25 for Friday and includes breakfast and lunch. Saturday events may have costs associated with them, see the Event Details page for more information. Scholarships are available to those who qualify.

Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored and supported the 2010 Food Summit. We are humbled and excited by how many people showed interest in our food community. Finale Event: Taste $2.78. A chance to taste some of Birmingham's finest chefs offerings and learn about the importance of school lunches. Each chef will prepare a kid-friendly, healthy meal that costs no more than $2.78 per person to prepare, the money that will be provided if the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act is passed. This event will be a celebration for the whole family. Free, 3pm-5pm, Pepper Place Garden lot. Food provided by Slow Food Birmingham and Whole Foods Market.
